Life’s Work – Business – Change the Heart
Obedience
The first and most important step people should take in their lives is to be obedient to God and His divine purpose for their lives. If we choose to be faithful to God’s calling in our life and choose to serve him humbly and full heartedly, that is when God promises to bear fruit in our lives. Jesus says in John 15:16, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go bear fruit — fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.” When we choose to be obedient to God he promises to bring blessing and favor to us.
Prayer
It is important for every Christian to be committed to praying for their business.
Ask God to make your work a ministry that glorifies him. Stanley Tam suggests in his book, God Owns My Business, that every business owner should have a prayer partner, someone who is committed to meeting on a consistent basis to pray over one another’s work and lives. Tam tells us that this is one of the most important principle to follow in maintaining a God-centered company.
“Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 18:19)
Worship
The foundation for divine living is rooted in our purpose for being in this world. We are here first and foremost to worship God. All aspects of life are rooted in our need to worship Him. Worship is not just what we do on Sunday morning. It is much greater than that. Worship begins with a heart centered on loving God and loving our neighbor. It is an attitude of putting others first. It is a work ethic of looking for ways of blessing others through our means of making a living and in our walk with our neighbor. It is directly opposite of what the world teaches, “What’s in it for me?” It is praying each day for the divine opportunity to “reach people for Christ.” It is the art of becoming a marketplace pastor and making work our worship of the Lord. Pastoring in the marketplace is for everyone.
Purpose
Centerpoint recognizes its mission as a marketplace ministry and embraces its purpose as a calling to empower, educate and equip churches, individuals and emerging businesses to maximize kingdom impact. Utilizing a comprehensive approach, Centerpoint focuses on current trends and issues, proven principles and strategies and in-depth and forward thinking analysis—integrated with an adherence to Biblical teachings.
Today, the effort of believers to effectively fulfill their “God Destinies” is being marginalized by the bondage of debt and poor health, the compounding of uninformed “life decisions” and the lack of ongoing tools, resources and equipping to adequately achieve their purpose.
Life changing seminars, conferences and briefings, a team of professional coaches and strategic resources (books, manuals, workbooks, etc.) are integrated together into Centerpoint’s approach to ensure individuals, ministries and businesses fulfill their calling and, as a result, have maximum kingdom impact.
Scripture
In order to lead a God-centered business, it is important to abide by his written Word and follow the instruction given in it. Furthermore, as 2 Timothy 3:16-17 states, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” God’s guidance in the Bible must be the foundation on which businesses rely. The two key elements to a prosperous business are God’s grace and God’s word, in essence, the ticket and the map to the our final destination.
