Maintain Life Balance
In order to maintain a balanced life in ministry, it is necessary to establish boundaries for the Lord, the family, ministry work, and personal development. These boundaries need to reflect time limits, emotional boundaries, and commitment levels that should be maintained so that no important sector of life becomes neglected.
Use Resources for Christ
I have often shared with entrepreneurs that they can either raise money or run their business. Doing both is very difficult without others who share the vision, and may result in losing the vision. The same is true in ministry. Quality ministries have, however, begun emerging where the revenue to support the ministry is generated by the ministry. Other models have connected with entrepreneurs who understand how their business can be used to generate revenue for a ministry.
Use Business for Christ
Stanley Tam explains in his book, God Owns My Business, “My prime effort in life is to be obedient to my God, to serve Him and bring credit to his name.” Furthermore, he states, “I believe this to be the only true good life, the kind of life within the grasp of every man, if he will simply and honestly endeavor to meet God’s conditions.” Tan applies this belief in his own business. For example, “In my case I felt directed by God literally to make Him my Senior Partner…The stock in our two corporations is not owned by me or by members of our family; it is controlled by a non-profit corporation whose sole purpose is to dispense funds for Christian work around the world.” To purchase this book, visit our webstore.
Bless People
Gods greatest command to us is to simply love. As a result, service follows. God has mercifully granted us freedom to do what we want, so it is our duty as Christians to use that freedom to glorify Him. Paul instructs us, “…do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself’” (Galatians 5:13-14). In addition to serving one another, we should make an effort encourage each other daily.
Mentor
Proverbs 15:22 “Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”
Everyone needs the help of a mentor. The guidance that comes from people with experience. We need to look to find godly mentors, and also to be a godly mentor to others.
Provide Encouragement
In order to lead and contribute to a successful ministry or administer God’s unending love in a personal way, it is important to encourage each other with compliments and helpful exhortation. Encouragement helps people feel loved and gives them a desire to reach their full potential as a person and a servant of Christ.
Ephesians 4:29 “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
II Timothy 4:2 “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage–with great patience and careful instruction.”
